“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5
Sacrifice is an act of giving something up as a way of letting go. It's a place of freedom. The lamb is an open space where we can put down marks of our burdens and brokenness. Although it can be a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice, it is also a place where the viewer took part in actively letting go. After the lamb was marked with charcoal, it was glazed and fired. The heat burnt off the charcoal bringing the lamb into the renewed state of glazed porcelain

This installation is about a certain type of sacrifice and selflessness. The idea of sacrificial living has become very abstract in the self-centered society in which we live in. The lamb may be a symbol of Christ and his selfless sacrifice. However, it can also signify our own sacrifice and struggles as we strive to live differently and selflessly in a selfish culture. The lamb invites the viewer into its suffering by allowing them to enter its space, and to put themselves in its place, simultaneously becoming a part of the crowd.
